Description & Details

New Paris, Ohio is a small Preble County village near the Indiana line, and its tallest downtown building has a history that predates the antique mall by more than a century. Built in 1873 by the Independent Order of Odd Fellows Lodge Number 303, the three story brick structure at 102 East Main Street spent decades standing mostly empty and deteriorating before Keith and Linda Kelley bought it, restored it, and reopened it in 2008 as the New Paris Antique Mall, giving the village a shopping destination that doubles as a preserved piece of local architecture.

Inside, close to twenty dealers fill more than ten thousand square feet spread across the building’s original floors, a basement level, and an adjoining structure the mall has grown into over time. The merchandise spans generations of collecting, from primitives and early Americana through mid-century and contemporary pieces, giving both serious collectors and casual browsers plenty to work through in a single visit. Because the mall pulls from many individual dealers rather than one owner’s inventory, the mix changes constantly, refreshed by flea markets, estate sales, and auction finds that keep regular visitors coming back to see what has turned up since their last trip.

A few small touches set the New Paris Antique Mall apart from a typical multi-dealer antique center. Free popcorn and complimentary country candles greet shoppers as they browse, a homey detail that fits the building’s small-town setting, and on Saturdays two Boston Terriers named Sophie and Audrey take up their post near the entrance to welcome visitors, a detail regular customers mention as much as any piece of furniture in the place. The mall has also stayed active in New Paris’s community calendar, taking part in local events like AppleFest and the village’s Christmas in the Village celebration, keeping it tied into the rhythm of small-town life rather than operating as a standalone retail stop.

Hours run Tuesday through Saturday from 10 in the morning until 5 in the evening, with Sunday hours from 1 to 5 and the mall closed on Mondays, a schedule that gives both weekday and weekend shoppers a chance to visit. The location, about two miles off a major interstate, makes it a convenient stop for travelers passing through western Ohio as well as a steady draw for locals and regional collectors who treat it as a fixture on their antiquing routes.

Keith and Linda Kelley have now run the mall for more than thirteen years under the same ownership, a level of continuity that is increasingly rare among small-town antique malls and that shows in the building’s upkeep and the loyalty of its dealer roster. Housed in a fully restored 1873 Odd Fellows lodge building, staffed by nearly twenty dealers, and known locally for its free popcorn, candles, and Saturday-shift Boston Terrier greeters, the New Paris Antique Mall is a historic multi-dealer antiques destination in western Ohio worth the stop for anyone touring the Preble County countryside.
