Description & Details

Jennifer Tibbs started small, running an antique shop out of nearby Port Crane, New York, before deciding Binghamton needed a real gathering place for local artists, collectors, and antique sellers. In June 2018 she opened Your Needful Things at 136 E Service Road, and the store has since grown into what locals now call the Southern Tier’s premier multi-dealer marketplace, spread across more than 10,000 square feet and home to dozens of individual vendors, with past counts putting the number of booths in the sixties.

Walk in and the first thing you notice is often the soundtrack: soft orchestral music sets a calm, unhurried tone that matches the pace visitors are encouraged to take. Past the entrance, stalls branch off in every direction, each one curated by its own vendor and stocked with a genuinely wide mix of goods. Shoppers have found antique radios, vintage telephones, vinyl records, framed paintings, handmade jewelry, and even antique sleds tucked among more conventional furniture and home decor booths. Because every vendor restocks independently, the inventory shifts constantly, and co-owner Ben Martin has described the appeal as the opposite of a big-box store: instead of knowing your batteries are on aisle eight, part of the fun is not knowing what you will find until you turn the corner.

The property has grown well beyond a single antique marketplace. Home Revival, a companion store under the same roof, focuses on furniture and decor for people looking to refresh a living space rather than hunt for collectibles, giving the location a dual identity as both a vintage treasure hunt and a home-styling destination. A small on-site eatery, currently branded The Hidden Gem Eatery after earlier iterations, lets shoppers grab a drink or a bite and keep browsing rather than having to break up the visit with a separate stop. That kind of amenity is unusual for an antique marketplace and reflects the owners’ original vision of building a full destination, not just a shopping stop.

Your Needful Things keeps a schedule geared toward weekend and after-work browsing: closed Mondays, open Tuesday and Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Thursday and Friday until 6 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Port Dickinson and Hillcrest/Fenton neighborhoods count it among their local favorites, and reviewers consistently point to the staff’s honesty and warmth as much as the merchandise itself, with more than one shopper recalling lost items being tracked down and returned by name.

For anyone in the Binghamton area looking for a slower, story-driven alternative to online shopping, where every stall has a vendor behind it worth asking about, Your Needful Things delivers exactly that experience. Your Needful Things is a 10,000-square-foot multi-vendor antique and handmade goods marketplace in Binghamton, New York, combining dozens of independent dealer booths with a companion home decor store and an on-site café.
