Description & Details

In the small community of St-Eugene, within East Hawkesbury Township along Ontario’s eastern edge near the Quebec border, Eclectables occupies 1081 Labrosse Street with a description of itself that undersells just how much ground the shop covers: not your ordinary antiques shop. Inside, browsers will find vinyl records, collectible comics, toys, vintage license plates, antique books, LEGO minifigures, anime and manga books and collectible trading cards, an inventory mix that reads more like a lifelong collector’s basement than a single-category antique dealer, which is exactly the point. Alongside the secondhand and collectible side of the business sits Figurehead Designs, a line of bespoke furniture built from repurposed materials, giving the shop a working design and fabrication element that most antique stores simply do not offer.

Eclectables is a family operation through and through. Rita Marsh, who previously ran an earlier Eclectables location in Hudson, Quebec, brought the concept and the name across the provincial border to establish the current St-Eugene shop. Her son Jonathan created Figurehead Designs, turning reclaimed and repurposed materials into custom furniture pieces sold alongside the shop’s antiques and collectibles, while Chris Marsh handles much of the sourcing, treasure hunting for the estate finds, toys and collectibles that keep the shelves stocked with items customers will not find at a typical mall antique booth. Jennifer Presnail joined the team not long after the store opened, rounding out a small staff that runs the shop with the kind of personalized attention a family business can offer that a larger operation generally cannot. The shop’s own store dog, Wookie, is part of that same personal feel, greeting visitors alongside the human staff.

Beyond the retail floor, Eclectables extends into Marsh’s Flea Market, an outdoor flea market the family runs on Sundays at the same Labrosse Street address, giving weekend visitors an even larger pool of vendors and finds to dig through beyond what fits inside the shop itself. That combination, a curated indoor antiques and collectibles shop paired with an outdoor Sunday flea market on the same property, makes Eclectables a genuine destination rather than a quick stop, particularly for collectors chasing something specific like a hard-to-find LPS figure, a vintage license plate for a restoration project, or a run of back-issue comics. The shop keeps weekend hours, open Saturday from 10 in the morning to 4 in the afternoon and Sunday from 10 to 3, aligning with the Sunday flea market schedule so visitors can plan a single trip that covers both the indoor shop and the outdoor vendor stalls.

East Hawkesbury sits in a rural stretch of eastern Ontario where destination shops like Eclectables draw collectors willing to make the drive specifically for a well-curated, family-run selection rather than relying on chance finds at a big-box store. Between the antiques, the comics and toys, the custom furniture from Figurehead Designs and the Sunday flea market next door, Eclectables has built a reputation as a browsing destination worth the trip out to St-Eugene. Eclectables is a family-run antiques, collectibles and vintage shop in St-Eugene, East Hawkesbury Township, offering everything from vinyl records and comics to bespoke repurposed furniture, open weekends alongside its own Sunday flea market.
